“Planetary Project” Scientific Center

 

You got to the site of a very young scientific organization. Today it is at the earliest stages of its life cycle. Using terminology of I. Adises’ theory of life cycles of an organization, this is the start of transition from the first stage (raising), when an organization is only a blueprint, to the second stage (infancy), i.e. the organization begins functioning, create its formal structures and tries to represent itself to the outer world. In the information society it is, probably, the main thing to show oneself to other people by means of the Internet.

 

In subsections of scientific disciplines studying organizations of people there are theories that define organizations as target communities. The objective here is what unites people, quite different by their qualities, into an organization as a whole. We agree with this, to an extent. We formulate the main objective of our work in a single scientific collective/organization as “assistance to harmonization of social, economic, political, cultural and spiritual life of the Earth’s population on the whole and in individual regions, subregions, countries and continents through implementing complex interdisciplinary and societally significant and practice-oriented social, economic, political, cultural and ecological projects. These projects are called to merge into a unified planetary project of qualitative improvement of joint life of people in their social and natural environment”.

 

To some it may seem too idealistic to speak of the possibility of harmony in the early XXI century when the objectively shaping unified world of people is literally split by a host of contradictions of diverse nature and intensity. Moreover, removing numerous contradictions is not foreseen in the near and even distant future. For many of them the pessimists forecast exacerbations that may lead to the death of mankind, all flesh on the planet or even the planet Earth itself. But we are scientific optimists. We believe that humans able to act reasonably in practical direction can and just must settle many contradictions in order to ensure adequate life for themselves and their descendants in the future. But they can accomplish this only having recognized the necessity to unite in the face of global problems.

 

 

Harmony as a scientific category bears a lot of implications. This is both a commensurate proportionality and orderliness of parts of the whole (we add: in the process of development). This is the unity of diversity (we add again: in the process of development). This is consistency of form and content of an object (once more: in the process of development). This is also a reflection of unity of the opposites, and regularities of reality development, and the like. In our opinion, it is worthwhile to foster, by assisting to harmonize world development, the qualitative improvement of people’s joint life on the planet Earth.

 

 

 

Our site not only announces our existence to you. We consider our site both a uniting basis for all those thinking about the future of mankind and a “virtual workplace” for those who join us in scientific aspect.

And in conclusion. We are certainly not the only people who have set and are setting such a hard task to themselves. For instance, such line of studies of the future as alternativistics has been developing for more that twenty years now. It focuses on searching for possible ways of transiting to the type of human civilization development that, unlike the existing one, would be able to successfully deal with global (planetary) problems of the present time. But, as I. Bestuzhev-Lada noted, thus far alternativistics “vainly has tried to switch over from purely speculative principles to the strategy and tactics of their realization. Meanwhile all this rather resembles Chekhov’s famous “lectures on the harm of smoking”: What is to be done? That is how the funny creature, that has boastfully appropriated an utterly undeserved name of Homo Sapiens (allegedly!), is arranged. Bitter experience shows that, making allusion to the Russian saying, it takes a tragedy to make not only the Russian peasant, but also American, English, French, German and any other national cross himself. It is our conviction (Bestuzhev-Lada) that the one who will make him cross himself at least a second before the end of the world deserves all Nobel Prizes of the year at a time.”
